# Depositing into a pool

Deposit a token into a pool to become a liquidity provider and earn a share of every trade on its market.

<figure><img src="https://1059243772-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FCr6LuvhRparZQQ69OnVT%2Fuploads%2FwlyzK4w67tE4F7cmb0pW%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=3f502ed5-b8da-4dcf-bf29-80abc1d784cf" alt=""><figcaption><p>Deposit Modal</p></figcaption></figure>

Depositing makes you a liquidity provider. You send the pool's token to a deposit address, the app verifies it, and your share of the pool starts earning a cut of every trade.

### Before you start

* A connected wallet that holds the pool's token, on the pool's chain.
* Enough of that token to clear the **$5 minimum deposit value**.
* A wallet able to sign a verification message. This is an identity check only — no transaction is executed and no gas is charged.

If the wallet has never used Vibe before, you are asked to pick a username and create an account first.

### Choosing a pool

Open **Pools → Discover**. Sort or filter the list by the numbers that matter to you — TVL, APR, open interest, 24H volume, market cap or age — and narrow by chain if you only want to deposit on one.

Click any row to open the pool's detail page, where you can see its charts, current positions, trade history and deposit records before committing.

### Before you deposit: a checklist

Every number below is on the Discover list or the pool's detail page. None of them is a verdict on its own — read them together.

* **Is anyone actually trading it?** Compare **TVL** against **24H Vol**. Fees only exist where there is volume, so a large pool with a quiet market pays its LPs very little.
* **Is the APR real or a spike?** Check **24H APR** against **30D** and **Total**. A 24H figure far above the other two is one busy day, not a rate you should expect to keep.
* **How thin is the token?** Compare the token's **Market Cap** against its liquidity. A token whose market cap dwarfs its on-chain liquidity is easier to manipulate, and the pool's value moves with that token. The listing wizard flags this automatically at 100:1 or worse, but that warning is only shown to the person listing — on an existing pool, check the ratio yourself.
* **Is the pool being used, and does it have room?** **OI (Ups/Downs)** shows live positions; **Available Liq** shows how much space is left for new ones. A pool with no headroom in one direction cannot take new trades that way.
* **How concentrated is it?** **Depositors** counts the LPs. Buyback % and Max Leverage are deposit-weighted averages, so in a pool with very few LPs the largest holder effectively sets both.
* **What is its history?** The detail page carries the pool's charts, live positions, trade history and deposit records. A pool that has been live for a while with steady activity tells you more than a headline APR.
* **Can you leave the money in?** Exiting takes about 14 days from the moment you request it. Deposit only what you can leave untouched for at least that long.
* **Are you on the right chain?** You deposit the token on the pool's chain, and you withdraw back to an address on that same chain family. There is no bridge in the deposit flow.

### How to deposit

<figure><img src="https://1059243772-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FCr6LuvhRparZQQ69OnVT%2Fuploads%2FOm7xoZOgLLP87IhlvOPR%2Fhow-to-deposit-960.gif?alt=media&amp;token=87a9c28d-b22f-4725-8f79-220fea3696ec" alt=""><figcaption><p>How to Deposit</p></figcaption></figure>

1. Open the pool, from Discover or from **Your Pools**.
2. Select **Deposit**.
3. Confirm the **chain** and **token** shown in the modal.
4. Optionally set your config — see [Your pool config](#your-pool-config).
5. Copy the **deposit address**, or scan the QR code.
6. Send the token from your own wallet to that address.
7. Select the confirm button once the transfer is sent.

The app verifies the deposit automatically and shows **Deposit received** once it lands. You do not need to paste a transaction hash.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Only send the exact token shown in the modal, on the chain shown in the modal. Anything else sent to that address is not recoverable. Always copy the address from the app — never from a screenshot, a chat message or an old document.
{% endhint %}

### The $5 minimum

Every deposit must be worth at least **$5** of the token, whether you are creating a new pool or adding to an existing one. The modal shows the approximate token amount that corresponds to $5 at the current price.

If a listing deposit lands below the minimum, the pool stays pending and the app tells you how much more to send. Top it up from the same modal and validation continues.

### If your deposit does not show up

The modal reports its own progress. You should see **Waiting for your deposit…**, then **Deposit received** or **Deposit detected**, and — when you are creating a new pool — **Validating token** followed by **Token approved**.

Most deposits are picked up within minutes. A new listing is verified within 24 hours.

**Closing the window does not cancel anything.** Detection and validation continue in the background, a notification tells you the outcome, and you can follow it in **Your Pools → In Progress**.

If the modal is still saying *Waiting for your deposit* long after you sent it, work through these in order:

1. **Confirm the transfer actually settled.** Check the transaction in your own wallet or a block explorer. A transfer that is still pending, or that failed, has nothing for the app to find.
2. **Check the amount cleared $5.** An underfunded listing deposit leaves the pool waiting rather than failing outright, and the shortfall notice can be missed if you were offline when it was sent. Top up from the same modal.
3. **Reload the page and reopen the pool.** The app re-checks your deposit from scratch on load, which resolves a missed live update.
4. **Look at the pool in Your Pools.** *In Progress* means it was found and is being validated — the work has moved on even if the modal never caught up.
5. **Re-read the chain and token you sent.** A transfer of the wrong token, or of the right token on the wrong chain, will never be detected, and it cannot be recovered.

If none of that resolves it, open a Discord ticket from the pool's **More actions** menu. Include the token contract address, the chain, the transaction hash, the amount and roughly when you sent it — those five things are what anyone looking into it will ask for first.

### Your pool config

When you deposit you can submit your preferred **Buyback %** and **Max Leverage** for the pool.

These are not applied literally. Every LP's values are combined into a **deposit-weighted average**, so your choice nudges the pool in proportion to your share rather than overwriting it. The new pool values shown before you save are an estimate; the exact figure is set at the moment you save.

You can change your values later at any time from **Edit Config** in Your Pools, or the next time you deposit.

### Adding to a position

Depositing again into a pool you already hold works the same way. Use **Top Up** on the pool's row in Your Pools, or **Deposit** on the detail page. Your share of the pool grows and your rewards scale with it.

### After you deposit

Your position appears in **Your Pools**, showing:

* **Your Deposit** — what you have put in.
* **Your Share** — your percentage of the pool.
* **Rewards** — what you have earned and can claim.
* **Your APR** — your own realised rate, over 24H and total.

Rewards start accruing while the pool is live and traders are active. See [Rewards and claiming](/pools/rewards-and-claiming.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
**Your Pools needs a desktop signature.** A phone linked by QR cannot produce the required wallet signature. Sign in on Vibe desktop first, then re-scan the link QR to bring your pools across to the phone.
{% endhint %}

### Why your position changes over time

What you deposit is not what sits waiting for you. You are buying a **share of the pool**, not parking a fixed quantity of tokens, and both the size of that share and what it is worth keep moving after you deposit.

* **Your share is held in two assets.** A pool holds its token and USDC, and your balance is reported as your share of each. The split moves as the pool trades, which is why a withdrawal returns **both** the token and USDC rather than only what you put in.
* **Buyback shifts the mix deliberately.** The pool's Buyback % takes a share of its profit, buys the token back and adds it to liquidity — pushing your balance further towards the token over time.
* **Your percentage moves even when you do nothing.** Every deposit by another LP dilutes your share; every withdrawal concentrates it. Your rewards scale with the share, so they move with it.
* **The token's price moves.** The token portion of your balance is exposed to it exactly as holding the token would be, so your position's USD value can fall even in a pool that is earning fees well.
* **Figures shown are estimates.** The exact amounts are determined when a withdrawal is fulfilled — roughly 14 days after you request it — and the pool keeps trading for that whole cooldown. Small differences between the modal and what lands are normal.

Rewards behave differently: they are paid in **USDC**, accrue as daily snapshots, and are separate from the position. Claiming them does not touch your share of the pool. See [Rewards and claiming](/pools/rewards-and-claiming.md) and [Withdrawing from a pool](/pools/withdrawing-from-a-pool.md).

### Tips

* Check TVL and 24H volume together. A large pool with no trading generates no fees.
* Compare 24H APR against 30D and Total APR to see whether a rate is steady or a one-day spike.
* Deposit on the chain where you already hold the token — you cannot bridge inside the deposit flow.
* Plan around the withdrawal cooldown before you deposit. Exiting takes about 14 days.
